STEM Camp – Off in the Clouds

On Saturday, February 17, 2024, Off in the Clouds introduced students in grades 9-12 to the basics of cloud computing. This STEM camp utilized brand new curriculum – developed by Quanterion Solutions Incorporated – specifically geared toward high school students to pique their interest for pursuing STEM career paths with the goal of energizing and inspiring the workforce of the future. The camp was hosted and organized by the Griffiss Institute.

A total of 18 students from 13 local high schools, some traveling from as far as Syracuse, spent the day exploring cloud services capped with the opportunity to present their findings to peers and mentors with a scored speech and presentation. The winning team earned bragging rights and candy for their efforts. The group included a diverse pool of 12 male and 6 female students.


Off in the Clouds was sponsored by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate through the ORION project, which is a dynamic collaboration effort between AFRL, Assured Information Security (AIS), Griffiss Institute, NYSTEC and Quanterion Solutions.
